Each year on 8th March is International Women’s Day – the official website explain it “is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.” So to celebrate I’m sharing with you a poem I wrote about the power of a woman and a post giving you a dose of female empowerment that can encourage you any day of the year!
“See the privilege that exists not only with gender or the country of residence, but with race and ethnicity even between the same gender in the same country!”
– Helen’s Journey point of thought
Remember International Women’s Day isn’t just about the inequality between men and women. It is also important to remember the inequality there are between women with differences too, such as ethnicity and cultures.
Yes, it is a day to raise awareness for the differences country to country with the rights women have to education, health care, sports, driving, choice in husband, etc. However, even within the same country where all women are under the same laws, there can still be inequality in those women’s pay grades, education, treatment by institutions, promotion chances, interaction with the Police etc. All based on the women’s differences in the colour of their skin, cultural heritage or religion – even though these women are the same gender and in the same country!
Celebrating Womanhood on International Women’s Day!
For Mother’s Day, I wrote a celebratory post all about the power of a woman, and the strength women can show even when they have known loss and devastation. There are so many examples of these women being celebrated today all over the world! This post also inspired me to write a poem all about this strength, resilience and endurance, we as women seem to naturally carry in our DNA. Highlighting the fact that whether we are mothers or not, is irrelevant to the amazing strengths and abilities of a woman.
I’d like to share my poem with you once again to celebrate all these aspects of womanhood on International Women’s Day:
Sources of Female Empowerment to take with you into each new day ahead!
I’m all for empowering females, saying powerful affirmations about yourself, speaking the promises of God over your life, and feeding your soul the love and nurture we readily give to others and not necessarily ourselves. I’m going to share with you my sources for these things:
Here is my Pinterest board ‘GIRL POWER & FEMALE EMPOWERMENT’ which is full of images that promotes all things female strength:
I also have a Pinterest board called ‘Affirmations, Chrostian Meditation, Mindfulness & Mental Health’ clcik below to follow this board for speaking positively over yourself and your life and to help with self-image and self-worth, etc:
As women, we can give out astonishing amounts of love even if we don’t show ourselves the same love, care and kindness back. I’d like to share with you some of my other blog posts that can help us as women to be better to ourselves, to encourage ourselves, to forgive ourselves, to help us grow and look after ourselves on a deeper level:
- A celebratory post about the power of a woman.
- HOW TO GIVE YOURSELF A BREAK when life makes you HARD ON YOURSELF! Including a FREE printable – an affirmation, I wrote to encourage Self-Love, Forgiveness & Letting Go…
- Self-Care Isn’t Selfish! Read about the importance of looking after yourself!
- Survival Tips For When Life Feels Overwhelming!
- The Dangers of Tunnel Vision & How to Break Down the Walls to Widen your Perspective in Life!
- “You are…” a SELF LOVE AFFIRMATION to reaffirm how amazing we actually are! A blog reminding us of the importance of talking positively about ourselves. in our heads & out loud!
- “TIME, REST, BREATH” The important need to simply stop, rest, just be & breath! A slogan to remind us esp when we are stressed out or having a manic time, that we also need to take time to stop, de-stress and calm our minds and bodies down!

Keeping it 100 always. ❤️ this. I’ve always said, women are next level. No disrespect intended to the male… not male bashing in anyway. But fact… the resilience and drive, grit and capacity to take on so much, with a burning desire to execute all we set out to achieve, is indeed within our DNA… in my opinion. Lol!! Thanks Hels x

This is a fantastic post and you’re absolutely right about inequality not just between men and women but all the sub-categories too, from race to age. I love your poem – beautifully written & very empowering!!

Thanks Caz, so glad you enjoyed my poem. I always get more nerves sharing one of my poems as i think they are more personal to me than writing about myself in a blog post. so appreciate the feedback as always ❤

I would feel the same, being more nervous to share a poem. Then again, I’ve not written anything in years (maybe it’s time I changed that). I hope the positive responses you’re getting show that your writing is beautiful & gives you a little more reassurance in posting more in future as I’d love to read them! 🙂
